Basic Life Support Academy – Certified and experienced Paramedics provide a 4 day class to those who may just be beginning their careers in Emergency Services. This program is based on the concept of the U.S. Emergency Medical Technician course, which is a very intense class that covers most aspects of what first responding medical personnel will provide to your citizens. You will learn about trauma emergencies, medical emergencies, as well as in depth evaluation of what ‘vital signs’ really mean and how they affect your patient. This class will be limited to 50 to 60 participants.
Community Emergency Response Team Academy – The Community Emergency Response Team Academy is the perfect learning platform for emergency responders such as Civil Defense, Red Cross workers, or even Police. The class is 4 days covering the emergency procedures that can be performed in the case of disasters or incidents where the Fire Department may not be available or is over-whelmed, such as in case of an earthquake, severe flooding, or a volcano eruption. The Community Emergency Response Team members are the life-blood of the community and are a huge asset to the fire department and the citizens of the communities they serve. This class is limited to 25 or 30 participants.
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid for the Community – CPR and First Aid are two extremely vital classes that every family needs to know. Many accidents will happen right at home and OESP, along with local appointed, elected or hired Fire, Medical staff, are committed to bringing this training directly to the individual homes. This one day class helps anyone in the community to learn the basics of CPR and the very basics of First Aid. With this knowledge, any ordinary citizen will be able to lend assistance to their family, friends, or those in need until the Fire Department or other emergency medical personnel arrive. Each class is one day in length and will be repeated every day while OESP is in country. All EMS and Fire classes will have practical and/or written evaluation tests at the end of the course. All classes also comply with the US Department of Transportation (DOT), the US National Fire Academy (NFA), US National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) or Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
| Firefighter Academy – The Firefighter Academy is an intense 4 day class where participants will simply review the basics and then move on to advanced techniques for Search and Rescue, Forcible Entry, Ventilation, Ladders, and Hose Operations. Experienced, active Fire Fighters of high rank within their own countries departments cover many “trick of the trade” on how to efficiently and effectively perform various firefighter tasks and to know when to use them. This class will require full protective clothing and is desired to keep the class size limited to 25 to 30 participants.
Fire Engine Driver/Operator Academy – The Fire Engine Driver/Operator Academy is a 4 day class that is directed specifically for those who have the responsibility to drive fire engines. Firefighters will cover everything from safe driving practices, to pumping and figuring out correct pump pressures, to understanding how pressure relief/governors operate, and also the various hose loading configurations that can be utilized. All participants of this class will need to wear a helmet, steel toed shoes/boots, and gloves. This class is limited to 25 participants.
Wildfire Firefighting Academy – The Wildfire Firefighting Academy is a 4 day course that will focus on fighting wildfires with limited resources. Instructors are experts who comes from the heart of wildfire firefighting in Australia. Topics will include establishing anchor points, fire lines, wildfire behavior and forecasting, the affects of weather, building of fire lines with natural and man-made lines, and numerous other topics. All participants of this class will need to wear a helmet, boots, eye protection, and gloves. The class size of this class is limited to 25 to 30 participants.
Officers Academy – The Officers Academy is a 4 day course that will deal with Planning, Strategy, applying Tactics to specific situations (such as fires, mass casualty motor vehicle collisions, building collapse, rescue, etc.) and the National Incident Management System. Chief Whitney is a renown instructor of Strategy and Tactics and instructs Fire Officers, on a regular basis, about how to become more productive and efficient with their resources at any given incident. This class is an excellent choice for all Fire Officers. You are all but guaranteed to finish this class with all the tools you’ll need to become an efficient Fire Officer. Class size limitation is suggested to not exceed 50
Train the Trainer – The Train the Trainer Academy is a 4 day class that will teach the selected certified Fire Instructors how to become more efficient as well as some of the latest techniques and innovations in training. The participants in this class will receive periodic information from OESP instructors on new classes as well as the information to teach the class. They will also be expected to continue instructing other firefighters, throughout the year, with the OESP instruction methods. Captains and Lieutenants Instructors are limiting this class to 20 participants (as selected by the In country Fire Trainers) and will require protective clothing consisting of a helmet, boots, eye protection, and gloves. It is highly suggested that the participants for this class come from across the country. |
