Cambodia Training 

In Country 2011

Preparations are underway for EMS training in Cambodia for March 2011.  Two seperate training sessions are being prepared: mass casuality incident management and train-the-trainer specialized for Non Governmental Organization (NGO) serving in Cambodia.  Get Involved!

Medically focused for 2010, students learned through a combination of hands-on and classroom instruction.

 

Classroom instruction begins with the basics:  

*OESP: Why We Are Here
*EMS systems
*Basic Anatomy and Physiology
*Cardiac / Stroke management
*CPR/AED and choking
    (adult and infant)

 

OESP trainers focus instruction on the practical responses to medical emergencies most often seen in country such as allergic reactions (allergies / anaphalaxis); heart issues (pulmonary) and give instruction on the endocrineology of the underlying body systems.

 

Infectious disease, environmental and child birth emergencies (OB/Gynecology) are also included during class room instruction.


The final course segment focuses on responding to individual trauma as well as Mass Casualty Incidents (MCI)events helping students be prepared to respond to blunt and penatrating wounds, soft tissue, fractures, burns, head chest abdominal, backboarding wound care and shock management.

 

Recent Trips 

South America October 09

OESP volunteers conducted our fifth year of training in Colombia.  250 Fire and EMS students from Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Guatemala and Chile participated. Classes included Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) tracks as well as extrication classes from automobiles and file suppression drills. Additionally, through OESP wells are drilled in remote villages that provide clean drinking water and increase the quality of life for many.

OESP is a volunteer organization there are no paid staff members. 100% of donations are applied in country towards medical and fire supplies, equipment, security transportation of fire trucks/ambulances and other incidentials.
